Overview

An interactive installation about the corporate 'rat race', the endless chase for money, power and status. Playful animal characters invite people to reflect on their own working lives.

The Challenge

In today's fast-paced corporate world, we often find ourselves caught in what we call the 'rat race' - an endless pursuit of money, power, and status. Our challenge was to create an interactive experience that would help people reflect on this self-defeating cycle in a way that's both engaging and thought-provoking.

The Approach

We chose to address this serious topic through a lighthearted lens, using playful visuals and interactive elements. By creating a simulation where users can control and reward virtual 'rats', we mirror the real-world incentive systems that keep us trapped in the corporate race.

The Solution

The installation uses Arduino sensors to detect viewer presence and movement, which influences the behavior of digital 'rats' projected on the wall. As more viewers enter the space, the rats' movement becomes more frantic, mirroring how increasing social pressure affects our daily lives.

The Impact

The installation sparked meaningful discussions about work-life balance and corporate culture. Visitors found themselves reflecting on their own relationship with work and success, often sharing personal stories and insights about their experiences in the corporate world.
