Overview

"...but often times better than a master of one." is the full quote unbeknownst to many.

Joseph is a multidisciplinary designer that believes that being a generalist is a super power to explore exciting ideas and untapped potential. He uses art as a tool for self-discovery and expression as his process requires thorough introspective reflection and research.

His journey started like any other, doodling on exam papers to almost getting expelled for vandalising a school's art room with acrylic paint... which little did he know, opened many doors for him. Likewise, this same rebellious spirit is captured within each frame as his educational transcripts are being drawn and painted on.

Through this animated video loop, he conveys his artistic journey from a child to an adult through a variety of mediums. His essence flowing into one form to the next, growing and leaving behind his past all the same as he travels through this never ending search for fulfilment.

Challenge

To create a self-reflective piece that captures the essence of being a multidisciplinary artist and the journey of continuous growth.

Developed an animated loop using mixed media techniques, incorporating personal educational transcripts as canvas for artistic expression.
